Learning to eat better
Healthy eating habits
Natalie had benefited from some of Lifeline’s programs such as Employment and Training and Family Development so she naturally signed up for the Nutrition program that was offered to provide education on healthy eating habits and encourage shopping at the local Farmer’s Markets.
Being the primary provider for her six year old daughter, Natalie wanted to learn to offer healthy and nutritious meals as well as making good food purchases. By attending the nutrition classes, Natalie learned to read labels, portion control and the advantages of fresh fruits and vegetables.
“I never knew what the appropriate amounts for daily salt intake were until this class” Natalie stated. She found all of the information obtained very useful and will be able to utilize it to making healthier choices for her and her daughter. She was also able to use her voucher at the local farmers market to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables for them to eat.
