2020 Success Stories: Coronavirus Relief Fund—Geauga
Taya, a 39-year old Geauga County resident, was employed as a teacher. When many school campuses were shut down in April 2020 due to COVID-19, Taya was let go. She received $189 per week in Unemployment Compensation, which was barely enough to get by. Her grandmother passed away from COVID-19 and then her grandfather was hospitalized with it. She and her mother took turns caring for him, making it challenging to look for other work. Taya applied for assistance through Lifeline’s Coronavirus Relief Fund. Without the help of this CRF funding, Taya would have undoubtedly lost her home, which she had built 13 years ago.
