2020 Success Stories: Coronavirus Relief Fund—Lake
Ashley, a Lake County resident, contacted Lifeline in September for assistance in paying her rent. She and her family had already had to leave one residence because of COVID-19 when the owner of the house she had been renting sold it. They used their savings to move into a new rental property.
Ashley had to leave her job when her children’s school switched to remote learning. She felt that she had to be home during the day to ensure that her children kept up with their school work and didn’t fall behind. Her husband also suffered income loss as he was employed in the entertainment industry as a DJ. All of the weddings and social engagements he had booked canceled due to the stay at home order and social distancing rules set by the governor. The unemployment compensation he received wasn’t enough to pay the rent and all of the other bills.
“Without your help, I don’t know what we’d do,” said Ashley. “Thanks from the bottom of my heart. I’m so glad that there was a program out there to help.”
